Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates that uses a specialized piece of equipment called a reformer. It combines traditional mat Pilates exercises with resistance-based movements, providing a challenging and effective workout.
Reformer Pilates offers numerous benefits, including:
Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Grip socks are mandatory for class.
Water, facial towel, comfy clothes, mat towel & grip socks (mandatory).
Your first class will introduce you to the reformer and basic Pilates principles. The instructor will guide you through a series of exercises, modifying them as needed. Be prepared to challenge yourself, but also to listen to your body and rest when necessary.
While Reformer Pilates is generally safe, it's important to consult with your doctor before starting any new workout regimen, especially if you have any underlying health conditions, injuries, or are pregnant.
Heated Pilates is generally not recommended for pregnant women. The primary reason is the risk of overheating (hyperthermia), which can be dangerous for a developing fetus, especially in the first trimester. A maternal core body temperature exceeding 102°F (38.9°C) has been linked to an increased risk of birth defects.
